Four years after the break, eS came back with a bang. The triumphant story of eS came to a brief halt in 2012 when the brand was put under hiatus by its parent company, Sole Technology, so that ST could focus on its other brands. They quickly followed this up with several other models that made a significant mark in the skating world, and soon, eS was the brand to have when you need to skate or just look like you know how. The Accel release signaled to everyone that eS wasn’t kidding around when it comes to skating. ![]() One of its first releases was the Accel silhouette, which most skaters from the 90s know as the footwear equivalent of the ubiquitous blue jeans. Smoothe the tops of the batter with a spatula before baking. Use one of these for the 3-inch cake pan and the other 2 for the 6-inch cake pan. You must then divide this into 3 equal parts. Remember they need to be buttered and floured or have some sort of parchment paper lining. One of these you will need to pour into the 9-inch cake mold. You can, first, divide the batter into two equal parts. If you have a scale, this will be much easier, but one way to get the measurements right with weighting is the following. Once your batter is ready, you will need to divide it proportionately into the cake pans. You will know it is done once you scrape the sides and can tell there are no butter or flour pockets in it. Continue to mix after you have incorporated all of it. Step 6Īdd in the dry ingredients slowly, making sure there is no powder splash. Sift together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda together to avoid any lumps and have an even mix. Step 4Īdd in the sour cream, the vanilla extract, and the lemon zest. Reduce the speed to medium and proceed to add the eggs in batches. With the help of a stand or hand mixer, cream it until fluffy on high speed with a paddle attachment. Grab the room temperature butter and place it in a large mixing bowl with the sugar. You could also line them with parchment paper if you prefer. To prepare them, butter and flour them so that it is easier to take the cake out once they are done. This way, the cake will taper towards the top, looking like a small castle. We need either 2 9 inch cake pans or, if you wanted the more traditional look, 1 9 inch pan, 1 6 inch pan and 1 3 inch pan. The first thing we need to do is to preheat the oven to 350✯ and prepare the pans we are going to use.
![]() In 2008, the state of New York provided $1 million towards preliminary engineering and environmental review for either the repair or replacement of the Portageville Railroad Bridge on behalf of NS. Since 1999, NS spent $850,000 in ongoing repairs to the bridge to keep it operational. A 24-hour vibration and stress monitoring system was installed shortly after, a first for NS. 13 Emergency repairs were completed and the bridge reopened to traffic within three days. A fatigue analysis found that all bottom chord members and diagonal members of the structure, except for two in the center panel of each deck truss, showed levels of fatigue beyond an acceptable range.Ī detailed inspection of the bridge by NS in September 2009 revealed broken rivets and structural cracks that required an emergency closure of the crossing. 13 Structural gaps between the lateral columns and pier foundations were also found. An individual fly has an adult lifespan of 30–60 days, although the life cycle of the pest is one year. The flies typically emerge in June and July in the UK and horse fly season lasts throughout the summer months. The females will lay their eggs on wet soil or vegetation that overhangs damp/wet areas so the larvae can burrow into the soft soil and feed on the organic debris and small insects before they transition into the adult fly. The adult horsefly is attracted to areas with moist soil, such as near streams and damp woodland. These flies will rarely venture into dark areas, so stabling can offer some protection, too. When protecting horses from flies during turnout, light coloured fly rugs are often used, along with fly repellents and fly traps, such as these on Amazon. As a result dark horses being exercised on warm summer days tend to attract horse flies more so than their lighter counterparts. Golden Malrin fly bait for coons is sold by licensed companies that follow OISC guidelines.Horse flies are most active on warm, sultry days and are attracted by dark, rapidly moving objects, sweat and carbon dioxide. This product is available on the Internet, and prices range from $59 to $230, depending on the size of the animal. It is also very effective against flies and can be applied to an area as large as five yards in diameter. Golden Malrin fly bait is a powerful natural deterrent against coons. Also, Golden Malrin Fly Bait should be applied in an area where the fly population is the highest, like near a lake or river. It should also not be sprayed on surfaces, as it can cause skin damage. ![]() Do not use this bait near water and children. The Golden Malrin Fly Bait must be applied at least 4 feet above the ground and in two to three days. While this product is highly effective against coons, there are some important restrictions on its use. If poisoned, your pet may suffer serious illness and may even die. In addition, the poison is also toxic to domestic pets and animals, so it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Restrictions on the use of golden maldrin fly bait for coons are in place to keep these creatures out of grain fields, cat food, and pet feeders. If you plan to use Golden Malrin, make sure you check the labels. You should also not use it around pets or young calfs. It should not harm your pets or children. The included audio library offers dozens of pre-made drum packs, along with thousands of samples to mix and match, including many classic drum synths we’re all familiar with. The cornerstone of any MASCHINE project is the drums. Not only is the addition of synth leads or basslines going to drastically alter the overall mix, it’s something that would require a reasonable understanding of musical structure, and could be considered a more advanced idea to add. While all the elements of your project are obviously optional, adding synths would be the most-optional. Similar to beat rolls, sweeps help create tension in build-ups, breaks, and transitions. With a drum kit, you can create rhythmic patterns, or create beat rolls to spice up build-ups and drops in the tracks you’re playing. There are three main elements you can start adding to your MASCHINE project: drum sequences, sweeps, and synth melodies. So from that point on, TRAKTOR is internally synced, but not with Link. ![]() When it’s your turn to mix in from their last track, you’re launching your set at their beats, not necessarily when Link is at the start of a loop cycle. This is fine for most applications where loops are created within the constraints of the software, but with DJing, you’re playing with variable music in a live setting, which means that often your mixing won’t always be in that time.Īn example of this is when you’re DJing back-to-back with someone who is beatmatching by ear. Once you start the sync, Ableton Link begins a four beat loop cycle (in a 4/4 time signature), which all Link-active software will adhere to. There is no additional latency by using JackAudio either, the only impact will be on your CPU while the audio is being processed. JackAudio was designed from the ground-up to provide reliable, low-latency routing, suitable for professional audio. Both Windows and macOS have a companion GUI app to set up the routing (Jack Portaudio and JackPilot, respectively). JackServer routes the audio in and out of software with the correct JackRouter “driver” selected as audio input and output. You can even create multi-channel outputs from one application to another, beyond the limitations of the hardware inputs and outputs. With JackAudio, you can set up virtual routing between your software applications without having to fiddle with any wires. You’ll need to route the audio within the software from one application to another, using something like the cross-platform application JackAudio or alternatives like Soundflower, on macOS. Getting sound from MASCHINE into TRAKTOR PRO is the fun / complicated part. You can also, if your audio interface allows for it, run both apps through the same output, and control their volumes independently within their respective user interfaces.īut what about if you want to get MASCHINE running into one of your controller’s mixer channels? This would be impossible when you have an audio interface with stereo inputs that go direct to master out, such as the KONTROL S5, or something like the Xone:K2, which has none. A more straightforward way to accomplish this would be to use a second audio interface for MASCHINE, but that relies on having a way of inputting the audio into a mixer. To get a working project going and having some sound come out of MASCHINE is only a small step in the overall process. Set up a MASCHINE project with the samples you want, and sync with TRAKTOR. TRAKTOR PRO 2.11+ software, a DJ controller mapped to TRAKTOR PRO, MASCHINE + MASCHINE 2.5.6+ software, JackAudio, or similar, such as Soundflower, and Ableton Link connection. But what about when you’ve got a controller with a built in interface? Setting up MASCHINE with a club mixer or audio interface is fairly straightforward: just route the output from the software to one of the mixer’s USB outputs, and you’ve got full volume, gain control, along with any other mixer features the channel has access to. All these tools let DJs expand their horizons, but there are other ways to achieve this by employing MASCHINE into your setup. TRAKTOR’s power features take you beyond the ones-and-twos, with four decks, Stems functionality, and remix. (The following tutorial, unfortunately, does not yet apply to systems running Windows!) With this handy guide you’ll learn how to set them up together, in order to spice up your DJ sets with some groovebox action. Together, MASCHINE and TRAKTOR can be a match made in heaven. ![]() ![]() The most noticeable thing in terms of actually using the speakers day to day is that the ARC port makes them finally usable with your TV’s clicker. No matter how much you spend on speakers, they won't sound good in a bad room. You can get relatively inexpensive acoustic panels online or build them yourself, and they’ll make a world of difference when it comes to actually experiencing what these speakers are capable of. I preferred them a bit wider apart than closer together, but when moving them between my widely spaced speaker stands and 80-inch TV stand, the sound stage didn’t suffer as dramatically as it does with other speakers. One thing I found surprising was how placement-agnostic the speakers were. ![]() I can hear exactly where each of Dacus' vocal harmonies is sitting in the sound, the perfect edge the engineer got from the signal ever so slightly distorting when she sings her loudest. On the KEFs, the slow addition of layers and instruments pulls me through the song, as though I'm able to see each aspect of the music through a sharp, clear lens. I've become obsessed with Lucy Dacus' new track “Hot & Heavy, ” which builds from synthy pads to full-fledged dance rock over the first minute. Each element of the music you're listening to occupies an almost three-dimensional place in the sound, allowing you to easily dart focus between them or to hear more clearly how they combine into the whole. The depth and width of the sound stage is significantly improved, thanks to that lower distortion down low. They might look the same as their predecessors, but they absolutely sound better. Turn on the KEF LS50 Wireless II and you are greeted by the most immersive, distortion-free sound you've probably ever heard from speakers this size. The results are less complicated to understand than the technology itself. The maze-like structures of this material inside each speaker aren’t easy to design it took a two-year research project with a company called Acoustic Metamaterials Group for the company to develop. The new speakers feature what the company calls Metamaterial Absorption Technology, which according to KEF, allows the speakers to absorb up to 60 percent of the distortion-causing energy that’s usually reflected back into the speaker cabinet. Under the hood, the company’s engineers have spent a significant amount of time ensuring that the LS50 Wireless II heartily outperform the original KEF wireless model that came out several years ago. Controls for all of the above can be adjusted with the included small black remote, or by handling the backlit touch controls on the top of the right speaker. For fully wireless operation, you can pair a PC or phone with them using Bluetooth, or add them to your Wi-Fi network for AirPlay, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, or Roon streaming. You’ll find an optical input, a coaxial cable jack, a 3.5-mm mini-jack, and even an HDMI ARC port for TV-a rare feature that makes them excellent for placement in a living room on either side of a screen. ![]() Plug them into the wall, and to each other, and there are no external amps required.Įven without dedicated outboard hardware, the back of the right speaker has a smorgasbord of inputs. ![]() Unlike the passive LS50 Meta speakers, which require a stereo amp to provide the juice, the LS50 Wireless II speakers are self-powered.
